DIAMOND is more than just a project – it is a catalyst for change. We are breaking down barriers and creating a more equitable future for all by combining cutting-edge technology with human-centred design. The project will also develop recommendations on how active labour market policies (ALMP) can be transformed to empower individuals from vulnerable backgrounds.

Shaping Potentials, Sparking Success: The meaning behind DIAMOND

The name “DIAMOND” serves as a powerful metaphor for the project’s mission to empower individuals, enabling them to shine by equipping them with the right skills needed to unlock their potential and succeed in the labor market. Guided by our motto, “Shaping potentials, sparking success,” DIAMOND reflects a commitment to transformation, growth, and resilience. Each aspect of a diamond embodies the core values and goals of the project:

  • Transformation and Potential: Like a diamond that begins to shine when shaped and polished, our project symbolizes empowering individuals to realize their full potential and stand out.
  • Value: Diamonds are treasured for their rarity and worth. Similarly, our participants will gain the skills needed to be highly valuable and sought-after by employers in the job market.
  • Uniqueness: Every diamond is one of a kind, just as each individual is unique. This aligns with our person-centered approach, tailoring support to each participant’s distinct needs.
  • Invincibility: Diamonds are known for their resilience. Likewise, the project aims to make participants adaptable and resilient in the face of continuous changes in the labor market.

Why DIAMOND? The Need for Fair and Equal Job Training

Job upskilling programs often lack:

  • The human touch: Current programs take a one-size-fits-all approach, making it hard for people to stay interested or find relevant training opportunities.
  • Teaching the right skills: Many programs do not focus enough on digital and green skills, which are essential for today’s jobs.
  • The Inclusion of people: Disadvantaged groups, like those from low-income backgrounds, often do not get the support they need
  • Using digital tools: Many programs do not use online tools or AI to make learning easier and more personalised.
  • Including the long-term needs: Many programs do not consider their role in helping people during economic crises or recoveries.

  • Personalised guidance with EGROW: The Employability Growth Index is a personalised assessment tool that helps you understand your strengths and weaknesses, guiding you towards the right training and career paths. 
  • Smart learning with MOVEE: MOVEE is a cutting-edge learning platform that offers tailored courses and resources to help you acquire new skills and advance your career. This platform uses AI to match learners with the right courses, offering flexible, bite-sized lessons designed to meet job market demands.
  • Foster inclusion: DIAMOND ensures people from all backgrounds, including those who often face barriers, get equal access to training.
  • Using technology effectively: The program integrates digital tools and AI to create engaging, accessible, and adaptive learning experiences.
  • Resilience for the future: DIAMOND supports individuals and communities to navigate job market changes and economic shifts by focusing on the right skills at the right time.

The DIAMOND Project In Detail

DIAMOND aims to revolutionise job training and skills development by providing personalised and inclusive learning opportunities. 

  • Project title: Providing a Digital and Modular Ecosystem for Personalised Capabilities Development to Enhance Labour Market Participation and Employment Transition
  • Start date: 1 October 2024
  • Project Duration: 42 months

Target Groups: Who will be empowered

    • DIAMOND’s Main Target Group – People from Disadvantaged Backgrounds: DIAMOND focuses on helping disadvantaged people to achieve their full potential in the workforce by providing tailored support and practical tools. This includes women, people with disabilities, and migrants, who often face significant barriers to employment. 
    • Educators – NGOs, Higher Education Institutes, providers of vocational training and education (VET): DIAMOND will support educators and training providers by offering innovative tools and resources. These resources will help them design effective and engaging learning programs that will match the right educators with the right learners, aligned with the needs of learners.
    • Public/Private ALMP Providers: DIAMOND empowers ALMP providers by offering data-driven insights, innovative training methods, collaborative opportunities, and support for developing future-oriented skills. This helps providers improve their programs, knowing where to invest their resources, and ultimately achieve better outcomes for job seekers.
    • Scientific Community: DIAMOND will bring together experts from diverse fields to pioneer new research and insights. By fostering collaboration between researchers in digitalisation, economics, psychology, and computer science, we will drive innovation and a deeper understanding of the factors that impact our individual and societal well-being, especially when it comes to the job market. Our findings will be shared through high-quality publications, shaping the future of education and employment.
    • Companies: DIAMOND will empower businesses by connecting them with skilled talent through the MOVEE platform. Companies could also offer specific skill training on the MOVEE platform to train employees and other talents.
    • Third Party Developer (Software developer, UX designer): MOVEE will be an open developer platform that offers access to external developers as well. External developers could offer their services on the platform and integrate their modules to further improve functionality.
  • Policy Makers and EU Officials (local, national, international): DIAMOND will provide policymakers and EU officials with the data and insights they need to make informed decisions about labour market policies. DIAMOND will help strengthen the EU’s economy and create a more just and resilient labour market by helping to optimise how the EU spends its money and time and promoting effective training programs.

You can choose from a wide range of topics, such as digital skills, green technologies, and business skills. With AI-powered recommendations, you’ll be matched with the right courses to help you achieve your goals.
  3. Get Employed: Once you have  gained new skills and knowledge, you will be better prepared to find and secure a job. The MOVEE platform can help you connect with potential employers and showcase your skills.

How will we develop these new solutions? – The Grassroot Living Lab: A Real-World Testing Ground

Imagine a real-world laboratory where new ideas can be tested and improved. That is what the Grassroot Living Lab is. It is a place where people from different backgrounds come together to experiment with new ways of learning. 

We will work closely with people from diverse backgrounds to co-create innovative solutions that meet their specific needs. The DIAMOND team will also use advanced research methods and economic modelling to ensure that our solutions are effective and sustainable.

In the context of DIAMOND, the Grassroot Living Lab will be used to:

  • Test new ideas: We will try out new approaches to job training and see what works best.
  • Get feedback from real people: We will ask people who use our services for their opinions and suggestions.
  • Make improvements: Based on the data we collect, we will make changes to our programs to make them even better.

We will also study the economic impact of our programs. This will help us understand how our solutions affect individuals, businesses, and the overall economy. Our team of experts will ensure that our solutions are developed to the highest standards and are ready to be used on a large scale.
