Bridging the Gap Between Cutting-Edge Technology and Real-World Employability
What does the future of job training look like? Is it a textbook, a lecture, or something entirely more immersive? At our recent workshop in Bordeaux, the DIAMOND Empower consortium got a hands-on look at the answer, and the results are truly inspiring.
We spent an incredible day diving into the world of Virtual Reality (VR) and haptic technology, exploring how these high-tech tools can create more accessible, engaging, and practical paths to employment for everyone.
Testing the Cutting Edge

A huge thank you to our hosts, Immersion, for opening their doors and letting us explore their world-class facilities. We didn’t just talk about innovation; we put it to the test!
Our team and local grassroots organizations had the opportunity to experience several groundbreaking technologies:
- Virtual Reality in Action: We tested the VIVE Focus Vision headsets to see how simulated environments can make learning complex skills safer and more engaging.
- Precision Training: Using a flight simulator, we experienced firsthand how high-stakes skills can be practiced and perfected in a controlled digital environment.
- The Power of Touch: One of the most fascinating moments was testing haptic gloves with thermic modules. These prototypes allow users to actually “feel” digital objects and temperature changes, adding a whole new layer of realism to vocational training.
- Interactive Brainstorming: Using a high-tech interactive touchboard, we gathered our collective ideas to discuss how these tools can be used in the real world.
Why Immersive Tech Matters for Careers
We also discussed with the grassroots organizations present how these technologies could be applied to micro-credentials. These are short, recognized certifications that prove you have specific, hands-on skills that employers are looking for right now.
By using immersive tools, we can make learning:
- More Practical: You learn by doing, not just by reading.
- More Engaging: It removes the “classroom boredom” and builds real confidence.
- Directly Connected: Training can be tailored to the exact equipment or environments used in the modern job market.
A Future Built on Skills and Innovation

We want to make sure everyone has a chance to shine in the digital age. By lowering the barriers to high-quality training, we aim at helping job seekers gain the skills they need to navigate the future of work with confidence.
The future of work is bright, and with the help of partners like Immersion, we are building the tools to help you get there.
