Connecting Innovation, Learning, and Employability: A Recap of the DIAMOND Project Meeting
There is something special about the city of Bordeaux. Known for its historic architecture and world-class culinary scene, it provided the perfect backdrop for our latest DIAMOND Empower consortium meeting. But beyond the beautiful scenery, this visit was about something much deeper: strengthening the collaboration that drives our mission to connect digital innovation with real-world employability.
A Warm Welcome: Community and Crème Brûlée

Our journey began on Monday evening with an informal networking dinner at the French House. As a consortium, we believe that the best ideas often spark during these informal moments. Over local Bordeaux delicacies and, of course, a perfectly caramelized crème brûlée, our partners from across Europe shared laughs, caught up on progress, and reinforced the bonds that make this project a true team effort.
Following dinner, we took a moonlit sightseeing walk through the historic streets of the city. Seeing the architecture of Bordeaux reminded us of the importance of cultural exchange, a core value of the DIAMOND project.
Hands-on at Immersion: Where Tech Meets Talent

The following day, the energy shifted from networking to deep-dive innovation. We were hosted by our partner, Immersion, at their impressive headquarters. We want to extend a massive THANK YOU to the Immersion team for being such world-class hosts; their hospitality and expertise made the workshop a resounding success.
This wasn’t just a meeting behind closed doors. Together with the grassroots organizations present, we discussed how these technologies could be embedded in new micro-credentials, but also spoke more generally about their potential and challenges. We collected our ideas on the state-of-the-art touchboard. Overall, it was very inspiring, and we returned home with many new ideas and insights.
Key highlights of the workshop included:
- Collaborative Brainstorming: Using high-tech interactive tools to map out the future of micro-credentials.
- Bridge Building: Discussing how the tools we are developing in DIAMOND can solve real-world challenges faced by those on the front lines of employment and education.
- Shared Vision: Reflecting on how to make learning more practical, engaging, and directly connected to the jobs of tomorrow.
The Big Picture: Why it Matters
At its heart, the Bordeaux visit was about intention. We are not just building software; we are building a “Diamond” path to employability. By bringing together tech innovators and organizations that understand job seekers’ needs, we ensure our project remains grounded in reality and filled with hope.
We left Bordeaux inspired, with our suitcases full of new ideas and our minds focused on building a brighter, more inclusive future for learners across Europe.
